RENK strengthens position in defense sector with large order for Puma transmissions

Augsburg, March 27, 2026 – RENK Group AG, a leading provider of propulsion solutions for the military sector, has received another large order for the German Bundeswehr’s Puma program. RENK will supply 188 HSWL 256 transmissions for the vehicle’s 800 kW propulsion system. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in June 2027 and are expected to be completed by November 2030.

“The order underscores our position as a key partner to the German Armed Forces and reflects the confidence in our ability to deliver scalable solutions reliably, meeting rising demand, through our industrial strength and operational excellence,” commented Dr. Alexander Sagel, CEO of RENK Group AG. “For us, sustainable strengthening of European defense capabilities is both a goal and a responsibility.”

As part of the expansion of the second phase of the Puma program, a total of 213 transmissions have been ordered. Of these, 25 units were booked in December 2025, while the order recorded in March 2026 comprises a further 188 units. An order for the additional 213 sets of final drives required for this program is expected to be placed in the second quarter of the year. The scope of supply includes transmission systems with integrated control unit and gear selector, specifically designed to meet the requirements of the infantry fighting vehicle. These systems are pivotal for the vehicle’s mobility, maneuverability, and overall performance.

The Puma’s propulsion system uses a power pack consisting of the Rolls-Royce Power Systems mtu 10V 890 engine and the RENK HSWL 256 transmission, which together form a powerful and compact integrated solution designed to maximize mobility and operational readiness.
