Augsburg, April 23, 2026 – RENK Group AG, a leading supplier of propulsion solutions for the military sector, has been commissioned by an international customer to supply state-of-the-art propulsion components for the construction of an unmanned surface vessel (USV) for a NATO state. Specifically, RENK will supply a system package in August of this year consisting of electric motors, couplings, and transmissions for the construction of a vessel.
“This order underscores the global demand for unmanned systems. RENK is collaborating with prominent partners in this state-of-the-art project, in which it will once again demonstrate its expertise in this field,” said Dr. Georg von Witzleben, CEO of the Marine & Industry segment at the RENK Group. “Our approach goes beyond traditional propulsion components. We provide an integrated system that combines power, control, and life cycle management.”
This represents a key contribution by RENK to the new program, which is being implemented as part of an innovative approach aimed at providing rapidly available, modular, and mission-capable platforms for a wide range of naval operations.
Thanks to its propulsion solutions, RENK components can be integrated quickly into various platform designs, enabling shipyards to build different classes of vessels while optimizing operating costs over the entire service life.
Through its involvement, RENK is underscoring its strategic focus on unmanned systems, not only on land but also on water.
