Euronaval 2026 in Paris: RENK Group driving the next generation of maritime mobility

  • NextGen Mobility technology and innovation agenda systematically expanded to include the maritime sector
  • With its propulsion solutions for medium-sized unmanned surface vessels (MUSV), RENK Group is positioning itself as the preferred partner for the next fleet generation
  • With the order from Saab for a major submarine program, RENK Magnet-Motor is expanding its position in the underwater propulsion market

Augsburg, October 29, 2026 – RENK Group AG, a leading provider of propulsion solutions for the military sector, will be presenting its maritime portfolio for the first time at Euronaval 2026 in Paris from November 3 to 6 as part of its NextGen Mobility technology and innovation agenda. The focus will be on two key areas: propulsion solutions for unmanned surface vessels and the targeted expansion of underwater expertise, also with a new order from Saab for a submarine program of a NATO state.

“Free and secure shipping lanes are paramount for our security and global trade. Protecting them requires powerful naval forces that are ready to act at all times. At the same time, unmanned systems and new underwater capabilities are becoming an indispensable part of modern fleets. With our propulsion solutions, we are laying the essential technological groundwork for tomorrow’s maritime operations – on the surface and under water,” says Dr. Georg von Witzleben, CEO of the Marine & Industry segment at RENK Group.

Propulsion solutions for unmanned surface vessels (MUSV)

Medium-sized unmanned surface vessels will become an important part of future fleets: They can operate for long periods of time, increase operational flexibility, and carry out missions without directly exposing soldiers to the risks they entail. RENK Group is positioning itself in this market as the preferred partner for propulsion systems for future MUSV platforms and is actively shaping this development: Since April 2026, the company has been supplying an integrated propulsion package comprising electric machines, couplings, and gear units for an unmanned vessel program of a NATO state.

A technological anchor point is the RENK T2RECS: This marine gear unit covers a power range of 500 to 5,000 kW. Less complexity and a reduced number of components enhance scalability and reliability, enabling autonomous operation for up to 90 days without maintenance activities or human intervention.

Collaboration with Saab

More than 40 naval forces worldwide already rely on RENK Group’s propulsion solutions, with RENK’s expertise in the field of maritime mobility increasingly coming into play underwater as well. For example, RENK Magnet-Motor GmbH, a company of RENK Group AG, has received a significant order from Saab to supply three Stirling power generation systems.

This is already the third major order that RENK Magnet-Motor has received as part of its collaboration with Saab. The technology for underwater power generation is already in use on a class of submarines operated by a NATO state and is set to be rolled out to other classes.

RENK Group AG will be exhibiting at Euronaval in Paris from November 3 to 6, 2026, in Hall 6, Stand L62.
