Rheine, August 31, 2026 – RENK Group AG, a leading provider of propulsion solutions for the military sector, is significantly expanding its production capacities. By 2030, the company aims to more than triple its output of transmissions at its headquarters in Augsburg to exceed 2,000 units per year. To this end, RENK has been strengthening its existing sites by gradually transferring the methods in the new production concept, from 2025 onward, from Augsburg to the entire production network. Today’s official inauguration of three new machining centers at Rheine site marks the next milestone in implementing this program: Capacities at the site have grown by more than 30 percent annually since 2025. RENK is investing over EUR 20 million at the site through 2030.
“This capacity expansion is another step in systematically scaling up our global production system for series production. It involves transferring established methods from the automotive industry. That not only delivers significant efficiency gains, but above all provides robust processes that ensure our high level of quality even as production volumes increase. At the same time, we are thus creating a state-of-the-art and highly attractive working environment. What we see here in Rheine is a powerful example of that,” says Dr. Emmerich Schiller, COO of RENK Group AG.
Rheine site exemplifies RENK’s growth across the Group
At RENK’s third-largest plant, components will now be manufactured for the HSWL 256 gear type, which is also used in the Puma infantry fighting vehicle. The expansion in Rheine is part of the investments RENK has committed to as part of the “Made for Germany” initiative. By 2028, the company will invest up to EUR 325 million in Germany in digitalization, innovation, and capacity expansion. The expansion in Rheine secures and creates jobs at the site and across the entire Group.
With its increased ability to deliver, RENK is also supporting the implementation of the new NATO capability targets and the modernization programs of the Bundeswehr and allied forces.
