Augsburg, May 27, 2025 – RENK group AG, a leading supplier of propulsion solutions for the military and civilian sectors, is hosting a naval experts’ symposium with a high-caliber line-up at its headquarters in Augsburg from May 26 to 28, 2025. The three-day event provides a platform for discourse among allied and international military, academics, and esteemed industrial representatives from the maritime defense sector.
The aim is to discuss the future challenges facing the maritime sector, and together to identify technological solutions and develop new ideas for the maritime capabilities of the coming years. The distinguished guests and speakers include the renowned political scientist Prof. Dr. Carlo Masala and Rear Admiral Christoph Müller-Meinhard.
“European countries are currently experiencing the drawbacks of globalization. We see the economic and political dependencies on major players such as China, Russia, and the US – countries that see themselves as maritime powers – on a daily basis. Geostrategic realignment is the only way forward, and we have to ask ourselves what would happen if the US was no longer prepared to ensure freedom of navigation. We need comprehensive maritime capabilities to continue to credibly represent – and if necessary, assert – our economic and political interests on the international stage,” said Masala.
As the undisputed market and technology leader for safety-critical and platform-independent mobility systems for military vehicles and naval vessels, RENK is taking responsibility for actively supporting these radical changes. After all, mobility is at the heart of military vehicles and naval vessels. That is why the symposium will focus on key technology trends, such as hybridization of propulsion systems to increase efficiency and flexibility, refinement in systems engineering for optimum integration of the entire propulsion chain, and the potential of digitalization for optimized operations and predictive maintenance.
CEO of RENK Group AG Dr. Alexander Sagel said, “RENK has been at the forefront in the supply of mission-critical propulsion technology to over 40 navies worldwide for more than 90 years. We don’t just monitor the challenges, we actively develop solutions that will shape maritime capabilities in the coming years.” This is underscored by a recent order intake in Japan, which marks the RENK Group’s official entry into one of the most advanced defense markets in Asia. This order reinforces RENK’s position as a reliable propulsion partner in one of the world’s most important maritime regions and lays the foundation for closer collaboration in the area of next-generation marine technology.
