Our technologies for your demands
Gear units transmit the drive torques from the engine to the wheelsets and are therefore key components of the railway drivetrain.
Gear test benches from RENK reproduce the real load on the test specimen. Due to different tasks of the transmission as well as driving profiles of the vehicle, there are different load requirements in the test bench.
For example:
- Static and dynamic torques and speeds
- Torsional vibrations of an internal combustion engine
- Driving dynamics
- Tilts and inclinations
- Environmental conditions
In cooperation with the customer, the appropriate test bench concept is created depending on the transmission load and the purpose of the test bench (development support, quality assurance in production or maintenance).
Modular test rig concept for testing of different axle gear units
Test rigs for axle gear units of railway vehicles are usually required to test a range of different specimen. Not only do different sizes of a gear unit type have to be taken into account, but also different designs for different drive train configurations. Right from the start, RENK test rigs are designed in a modular way so that the various requirements can be met with feasible modifications.
Simple and quick change of specimen
Specimen changes have an immense influence on the usability of a test stand. For this reason, we always try to keep these as short as possible. If available, we provide a preparation area in order to be able to install adapters or sensor applications in advance. At the interfaces on the test stand we pay attention to easy mounting possibilities.
Environmental simulation upon customer requirements
Most investigations of axle gear units can be performed under normal laboratory conditions. For special tests, the RENK test stands can be extended with environmental chambers designed exactly according to the customer's requirements (rain, low temperatures, snow, ...). Our tasks also include the integration of the total ventilation system to the building.
